Works will commence February 1st 2021 on improvements to fully signalise the Boreham Interchange. This is to facilitate the delivery of a new Link Road (RDR) from the Boreham Interchange to Essex Regiment Way allowing Colchester Road and White Hart Lane to be downgraded once the Link Road (RDR) is open. The works will also facilitate access to the planned new railway station at Beaulieu scheduled to open 2025/2026.
The changes that are being made to the Boreham Interchange involve connecting the Interchange to the new Link Road (RDR) which will become the A131, together with an increase to the capacity and improvements to the pedestrian and cycle routes, which run through the interchange.
Working with Essex County Council and Highways England, an accelerated programme for construction has been agreed which will involve a considerable amount of the works being undertaken 24/7 to reduce the length of any disruption.
For most of the project the works can and will be undertaken with the majority of the lanes within the interchange remaining open. At different stages of the project, for a short period overnight road closures are required, with diversions in place.
Details of the project phases and advance notice of these closures will be available on the website, along with the project telephone number and the project email:
